After Gibson's popular debut novel, Count Zero (1986) and Mona Lisa Overdrive (1988) followed.

What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Until 2012 the Ignotus prize, an important Spanish science fiction award, was voted on by members of the Spanish Association of Fantasy, Science Fiction, and Horror (AEFCFT) and by HispaCon attendees. These sites will help you on your mission. There were lots of fanzines and magazines, new possibilities for publishing, new writers with new ideas, Hispacon every year, the Asturcon in Gijón (held the first weekend of the Semana Negra), the Semana Negra itself (which up to then had been a festival for crime literature), which allowed us to present our latest books, the UPC Award . . .

More generally, why has mainstream sci-fi and fantasy as a whole become so religious? Very cool futuristic vehicle models, awesome landscape renderings, they have an aura of seeming real. Thinking more about your question, you may want to read up on Syndicate. Cyberpunk was weird, which obscured the basic simplicity of its theory- and- practice. With the age of Drones upon us and drones being used to invade our privacy, what options do we have to protect ourselves?

I loved it back in the day, It was before you were born but you're so hardcore now it dwarfs my firsthand experience. One of the many reasons why the introduction of Cyberpunk sparked such shock waves through science fiction fandom was a shifted relationship to technology — from the monumental engineering accomplishments which inspired the “sense of wonder” in early generations of writers to the focus on the everyday forms of technology that might have seemed futuristic to past generations but were already starting to be taken for granted by people living in the last decades of the 20th century.

a sub genre of sci-fi usualy whith deep philosophical stments about the nature of freedom and reality. cyberpunk is usualy set in a de - humanised and futuristic society. the protagonist is usualy paranoid or suspicous about society, and usualy gets it right. loads of famous books, films, and comic can be considered cyberpunk, the film "i robot", and "the matrix" are both cyber punk, even the famous book "1984" can be considered cyber punk, because it is set in a futuristic and de humanised seciety, (admitedly, its original intent was to mimic soviet russia, but it can still be considered cyber punk, loosly) cyberpunk is not a shalow genre, although many cyberpunk movies are shalow, whith no realy philosophical questions. they are the minority Pertains to both a literary genre and more recently to an attitude or lifestyle.

In any case, the representational apparatus of Science Fiction, having gone through innumerable generations of technological development and well-nigh viral mutation since the onset of that movement, is sending back more reliable information about the contemporary world than an exhausted realism (or an exhausted modernism either).
